  Introduction

To make this introduction, we have to introduce basic concepts of these two subject .

Most of the time when we hear or think about bilingualism or bicultural, it comes to our mind that it is someone that speaks more than one languages or speak two languages. But to understand these concepts it is necessary to understand the phonema and describe what is that bilingual participant in our every day life.


Objective

1. Know the difference between bilingual and bicultural.

2. To clarify some misconcepts surrounding bilingualism and bicultural.


Difference between bilingual and bicultural


Bilingual: It is a person who domain two languages according to their purpose and need. that is a mother tonge and co-official language.

To have this hability, you have to communicate in two languages, using correctly the four habilities, speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Bicultural: It is when you summerge in two cultures, living and participating in different activities and cultures such as typical food, music, folklore, traditions, crafts and other ones.

Bicultural not only focus on English but about the students future. Seeking to have international experience so that they can practice better.


Examples between Bilingual and Bicultural

Bilingual

The first example I going to show is the people that live in Canada. Canadian who speaks English and French.

A bilingual institute give us English class of part ot the plan they had, therefore in a bicultural institute you have to study at least 80% of they subjects in English.

 

Bicultural

We have a very clear and near example is the Venezuelans who have been forced to move to pther cultures such as South Africa, territories such as Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Brasil, Argentina and others.

Being bicultural means that you have many cultures and tradition in your way of living.

If a Child grow up and study in a bicultural model, since he was in a elementary school, he will arrive the university very and well prepared.


Bilingual and bicultural: 

People that they call immigrants such as latimos seeking  the American dream.

Conclusions

The bicultural bilingual is adapted to the cultural context as well than the monolingual with their only monolingual language.
